Hotel Kansas City is one of the most stunning and storied wedding venues in the entire metro, and it earns that reputation every single time. This magnificent Autograph Collection hotel sits in the heart of downtown Kansas City and combines historic architecture with modern luxury in a way that feels both timeless and completely fresh. The moment you step inside, the level of detail and craftsmanship in this building is genuinely breathtaking.
For Blake and Jake’s wedding, the Tudor Room served as a gorgeous and intimate ceremony space with rich architectural details that created an atmosphere of pure elegance. Portraits in the Starlight Ballroom gave us the most dramatic and beautiful backdrop, and the exterior of the building offered stunning architectural details that made every outdoor portrait feel cinematic and grand. If you are curious about how your venue choice shapes the look and feel of your photos, my guide on How Your Wedding Location Impacts Your Photos is a really helpful read.
Blake and Jake chose to see each other for the very first time at the ceremony, and the energy that created in that Tudor Room was absolutely electric. There is something so magical about a couple who saves that first moment for the altar, and when Jake saw Blake walk down the aisle on Valentine’s Day, surrounded by the people they love most, it was the kind of moment that gives you chills behind the camera.
The ceremony was joyful, heartfelt, and filled with so much laughter and happy tears. After the ceremony we moved into portrait time, taking full advantage of the Starlight Ballroom and the stunning exterior of Hotel Kansas City. The classic black and white palette looked absolutely incredible against the rich architectural details of this building and every single portrait location delivered something different and gorgeous. As the evening shifted into the reception, the fun and celebratory energy that Blake and Jake brought to every part of their day filled the room completely. Stunning florals by Good Earth Floral brought the black and white vision to life with incredible texture and elegance, and the seamless planning by Composure Events meant that every single moment flowed beautifully from one to the next. The dance floor was full, the laughter was loud, and the love in that room was something truly special to witness and photograph.
