Kaitlyn & Jake’s Elegant Magnolia Venue Wedding

Some love stories come full circle in the most beautiful ways. I first met Kaitlyn during her destination elopement for one of my previous brides. Over the course of the weekend, we connected, and by the time we returned to Kansas City, she reached out to ask if I could photograph her wedding day. My answer? A resounding yes!

A Stunning Engagement Session in Kansas City

Before their wedding, Kaitlyn and Jake’s engagement session gave me a glimpse into how gorgeous their wedding day would be. We started in the West Bottoms, a favorite backdrop for its industrial charm, then moved to Poindexter Parking Garage for some skyline views. While a parking garage might not sound like a go-to photo spot, trust me—the golden hour light there is pure magic. Their elegant, timeless outfits paired perfectly with the warm glow of the cityscape, setting the tone for their wedding portraits to come.

Getting Ready at Magnolia Venue & Urban Garden

Kaitlyn and Jake’s wedding day began at Magnolia Venue & Urban Garden, one of Kansas City’s most beautiful wedding venues. The bridal suite is a dream—a spacious, all-white brick room flooded with natural light. It provided the perfect, minimalist backdrop for Kaitlyn’s getting-ready candids. What made it even better was the venue’s two separate rooms, allowing the bridal party to get ready while keeping a clean space for portraits.

After sharing first looks with her bridesmaids and family, Kaitlyn had a first touch with Jake. These quiet, emotional moments before the ceremony set the perfect tone for the day ahead.

A Classic Church Ceremony & Portraits at The Nelson-Atkins Museum

Following their time at Magnolia Venue, we headed to the church for Kaitlyn and Jake to exchange vows and officially become husband and wife. Their ceremony was heartfelt and intimate, filled with love from family and friends.

Once they said “I do,” the celebration began! The party bus picked everyone up, and we made our way to one of my favorite portrait locations—The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. We started with fun, energetic bridal party portraits, capturing movement and laughter as they tossed flower petals into the air. Kaitlyn and Jake’s dog even made a special appearance, adding an extra sweet moment to their gallery.

Romantic Couple Portraits Among Kansas City’s Iconic Landmarks

After the bridal party headed back to the bus, we focused on couple portraits. Kaitlyn had requested a mix of architectural and natural backdrops, so we made our way to the south side of The Nelson, where lush trees framed their romantic photos. Thankfully, an event on the back lawn was wrapping up just in time for us to have the space to ourselves.

However, my favorite shots of the day? The portraits between the columns. There’s something about the grand, timeless feel of the museum’s columns that creates the most breathtaking wedding portraits. The elegance of the setting paired with Kaitlyn and Jake’s natural connection made for truly magical images.

A Perfect Magnolia Venue Wedding

After portraits, we returned to Magnolia Venue & Urban Garden to celebrate. With its modern yet classic aesthetic, the space was transformed into an elegant, intimate reception filled with candlelight, heartfelt speeches, and an incredible dance floor energy.

Kaitlyn and Jake’s Magnolia Venue wedding was the perfect blend of romance, joy, and timeless elegance. From the stunning natural light in the bridal suite to the grand architecture of The Nelson, every moment was picture-perfect.
