There is something about a perfectly styled outdoor reception that just stops you in your tracks, and this spring pastel editorial at The Simpson House in Kansas City did exactly that. Soft pastel colors, glowing table lamps, abundant florals spilling from every surface, and custom seating chart signage came together for a tablescape and reception vision that felt warm, romantic, and completely alive. This editorial was designed to inspire couples who are dreaming of an outdoor reception that feels as intentional and beautiful as it does effortless.
This shoot was co-hosted and designed alongside the incredibly talented team at Sloane and Ko Events, and every single vendor who showed up brought their absolute best. If The Simpson House is on your radar as a potential venue, my complete guide to 50+ Best Kansas City Wedding Venues is a wonderful place to explore everything Kansas City has to offer as you plan your celebration.
The Simpson House is one of Kansas City’s most charming and beautifully appointed wedding venues, and it was the perfect canvas for a spring pastel outdoor reception vision like this one. With its gorgeous historic architecture, beautifully maintained grounds, and warm and intimate atmosphere, this venue has a natural elegance that feels personal and refined all at once. It is the kind of space that makes every couple feel like the day was made just for them.
From a photography standpoint The Simpson House is an absolute joy to work at. The combination of beautiful natural light, lush outdoor spaces, and the venue’s rich architectural character creates portrait and detail opportunities that feel both timeless and endlessly varied. For an outdoor reception editorial with this much floral abundance and carefully curated detail, The Simpson House provided the most perfect and beautiful foundation imaginable.
The heart of this editorial was the tablescape, and it was truly something special from every angle. Florals by Honoring Yours were absolutely breathtaking, with lush spring blooms in the softest pastels spilling over every surface and creating that abundant, organic, garden party feeling that we were dreaming of from the very beginning. Paired with the warm glow of table lamps scattered throughout the reception setup, the overall atmosphere felt intimate and romantic in the most beautiful way.
Linens from Citrus Table and rentals from Good Stuff China brought a cohesive and elevated quality to every table detail, with each element working together to create a reception space that felt both sophisticated and genuinely inviting. Custom stationery and signage by Rock Scissors Paperie added a polished and personal finishing touch throughout, including the most gorgeous custom seating chart that stopped guests in their tracks the moment they arrived. Our bride wore a stunning gown from Emily Hart Bridal paired with gorgeous earrings from Mahal Made Jewelry, Christian Louboutin shoes, and a finishing spritz of Chanel that honestly felt very on brand for a day this beautiful. Hair and makeup by Bailey Rose Beauty was absolutely flawless and perfectly complemented the soft and romantic aesthetic of the entire shoot. Our groom was impeccably dressed in a look from The Black Tux that was clean, modern, and perfectly coordinated with the pastel palette surrounding him.
The musical atmosphere was set beautifully by Violetta Strings during the reception hour, with Golden Hour Official bringing the energy later in the evening in the most perfect way. A stunning cake by Taylor Elizabeth Cakes served as both a gorgeous visual centerpiece and a delicious ending to a beautiful shoot, and Total Wine Spirits Beer and More rounded out the bar experience beautifully.
